Ash is passionate about sustainable agriculture, women’s leadership, and progressive policy. She brings a wealth of skills to her WFAN work, including experience working as a Harvesting Our Potential mentee on Denise O’Brien’s Rolling Acres Farm in 2014-15. She is a freelance writer and has written stories about and for WFAN since learning about the organization at an eco-fair at the University of Iowa in 2010. “I immediately loved the organization,” she says.

Most recently, Ash has served as a local foods coordinator for Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Prairie Rivers of Iowa in Ames. She also worked as philanthropy coordinator for The Nature Conservancy in Iowa, and holds certificates in nonprofit management and philanthropy communication. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in English.

Ash brings a variety of social media skills in addition to her background in writing. She serves on the Iowa Farmers Union board, and is a New Leaders Council Fellow (Des Moines). Her writing has appeared in Edible Omaha, Seedstock, Modern Farmer, the blogs of WFAN and the Center for Rural Affairs, and other outlets.

Please join us in welcoming Ash to our staff!
