WFAN Welcomes Sherri Dugger as New Executive Director

We are excited to announce that our new Executive Director is Sherri Dugger!

Sherri has worked extensively with family farmers as a journalist, fundraiser, advocate, and strategic planner. She founded the first women’s farmer chapter under the Indiana Farmers Union umbrella, a first in National Farmers Union history. Sherri resides on a small farm in Indiana and admits that she is an obsessed fan of local agriculture and food systems.

“I am thrilled to accept the position as Executive director of WFAN,” Sherri says. “With such a strong staff and board, WFAN is well-positioned to increase its member network and impact, and I am excited to work with the team to provide greater support for racial equity, food justice, and food sovereignty, as well as to increase solidarity with like-minded communities and organizations throughout the food and agriculture system.”

WFAN’s Board of Directors unanimously chose Sherri after a nationwide search to lead the organization.

“We wanted to build on the past leadership,” says Anna Johnson, WFAN Board Chair. “With Sherri we are well positioned to grow our advocacy for women and non-binary farmers, and for food justice advocates.”

Sherri will overlap with outgoing Executive Director Bridget Holcomb, who led the organization for five years. Holcomb is stepping down to pursue clean water advocacy work in her home state of Minnesota.

Bridget says, “When you work this hard for a growing organization, you want to leave it in capable hands. I am thrilled.”

Look for upcoming posts from Sherri. All contact information remains the same for WFAN, and we look forward to being in touch!
